McDaid strikes gold!

McDaid sir I salute you. I hope you went to the bookies with your rugby know how, fantastic forecast. My £20 on France at 9-1 is looking good pocket money but you could have cleaned up on that call!

I knew the All Blacks were chokers too...but somehow got caught up in the hype again. Why did they not go for a drop goal in the end...still wanting to win in style. They needed to be in the group of death to have had a few matches first. Hopefully we can meet them at the groups stage next world cup, which they won't loose at home.

Now that Doug Howlett has passed Cullen's record and played the last time for the All Blacks and is going to Munster for the money he trashes a few cars in the Hilton! Print this post

Fair play mcDaid, put the neck out well there.

Gotta say I derived a significant amount of sick satisfaction at the weekend out of seeing how emotional the Aussies and Blacks were in defeat. Set against all their instinctive macho posturing and aggression laden arrogance, their tears were truly those of clowns.

Will RWC be poorer for their absence? Will it Fuck!

The Aussies were apalling. England brought back memories of Munsters v Shannon - the scrum as a weapon both physical and psychological. One moment for me summed it up. After about 12 phases of play in the 2nd half England knowck the ball on. Tuquiri, who can't kick for shite, grabs the ball and lashes it in to touch - rather than see his forwards buckle yet again.

Four more years for the All Blacks, at least the next RWC is at home. I am delighted that they choked and that marginal decisions went against them. Lazy runners have been part of their game for years, McAllister deserved the bin. With the drop goal, it is obvious that no one wanted the possibility of missing it.

Ah well, four more years to go to the gym and build up their scrotums so somebody might have the balls to drop a goal in 2011.

Regarding the Yellow card, I am surprised at reading a lot of New Zealand folk calling it a didgy dicision. It was a blatant cynical professional foul to prevent a try.

The moment it happened I was screaming at the TV. Even with the yellow card, I thought NZ had got off lightly because France only left with 3 points.

The way the NZ fans see it, the ref actually awarded 10 points to France, cos they think he kicked the penalty and set up a brilliant move for Dusatoir's try and ran it in himself. They dont seem to give France any credit for making the scores.

But seriously now, this is not a rhetorical question, is there any genuine reason for Kiwi grievance about the card?

While I'm at it, well done Maccers on the prediction.

- Kevin

Where to start? I would have put my house on Australia winning, and whatever about the other match and knowing it would be dangerous to underestimate France, I still thought the All Blacks would prevail. I literally couldn't believe what I was seeing (through a haze of pints - one of those out for a couple nights - half a dozen later, i was drooling & making no sense). I thought the sin-binning was a bit harsh - did Jauzion run into McAllister looking for it? The forward pass was ridiculous, how could they miss it? But that's not why they lost - I have never seen a team absolutely hammered on all the stats and still prevail, unbelievable heart, discipline & defence by the French. Ali Williams celebrating his "try", Carter crying on the sideline - pathetic. Grow up lads, it's really just a game, you are the best players in the world, you've forgotten how to enjoy it.

To quote one article I read "Don't forget this was the Tri-Nations champions against the Six Nations. It was the best team in the world against the tournament hosts on a hugely emotionally occasion. Sounds like it might have needed the best referee in the world."

I certainly don't agree with a 28 year old getting such a big game after being a professional ref for 2 years, surely one needs to earn the right to ref such a game. Some kiwis are coming down hard on Wayne Barnes and he has been assigned extra security for working the tech area for the argies semifinal.

I have read that there has been a huge upsurge of reported domestic violence in nz in the days after the all-blacks went out.

It's all sour grapes anyone, you gotta win if you have 70% possession.

Looking forward to hearing from the Waughboy after his last words about all the NH bashing going on down there.
