Manchester United bought Nobby Stiles medals this week with a total of £424,438 raised for his retirement. £188,200 for his world cup medal and £49,402 for his 1968 European cup medal.
Times have changed with Rooney making more in 3 weeks these days.
Different times for sure - but still, >£400k for those medals, not a bad pension...
Tom, was it Tommie Smith or John Carlos who wrote that book of the famous '68 salute?
Tommie Smith "autobiography", Silent Gesture, talked about their stand against human rights (not a black power salute).
I could not finish the book as Smith's constant repetition of personal issues between him and John Carlos got incredibly tiresome.
