Slam Dunk

If they weren't motivated for tomorrow's game, they are now. Thanks for that Warren. But really, what were you thinking?

I'm expecting a tight (in score) and open (in style) game, and I think we will prevail. There will be nerves & pressure, but they've been here before - as has Kidney - and when it comes down to it, we have better players man for man, and more to play for.

Enjoy the game lads, where are ye watching it? I'll be at home, trying to explain the ELV's to Ruby and Aster (Richenda already knows them...).

P.S. I heard a clip of a BOD sketch from The Emergency which will be broadcast Sat. morning @ 11:30, worth checking out perhaps. Print this post

Not sure how Ireland will play it - I know they will try to keep it tight but the question is how tight? Will they kick to force Wales to run from very deep or will they carry a bit more to tire the welsh pack and keep their backs out of the game? I wasnt altogether happy with the Scottish performance - the scrum was a disaster and while the pace was much better in the second half than the first, even then it was a bit too manic for my liking. Williams vs Wallace will be decisive, but I do worry that if O'Gara takes a knock early doors we will struggle big time to control things. But all the build up is indicating that this game will be lost by the Welsh rather than won by the Irish. My prediction is a much deserved grand slam win 18-10.

Forcing Wales to run from deep, surely playing into their hands. Keeping the ball away from Byrne and Williams (Shane) has to be a tactic. Keep the ball in hand, spread it wide, kick to the corners. But have to cut down the in-field kicks, box kicks, garryowens. Ferris too will have a huge part to play in negating the Williams influence, he has been phenomonal. Has he played all 80 minutes of every game?

How come absolutely everyone I have asked this week, and myself, think Ireland will do it? Yet, the bookies make Wales slight favourites for the match? I think 2 evenly matched sides are about to play a match, and its going to come down to attitude and desire, and the way I read it, Ireland are 10 times better off in that department going into tomorrows single game. Wales are grand slam champons, they have lost that already, and I dont believe they will be fired up to win the cahampionship or triple crown. When it comes to "bodies on the line" moments, Ireland will have the bodies. The bookies are wrong!

Wales bookies favourites? This betting comparison suggests otherwise. Am I missing something?

The championship is a consolation price, it's all about tossing the 61 year old monkey.

C'mon Tom, that comparison shows Wales odds-on favourites, and proves McGrath is right!

Can't see that, guess I can't read odds, better keep my money in my pocket! Ridiculous that they are favourites.

e.g. bet365 shows Wales 8/13, which is 13 to 8 ON - i.e. wager €13 to win 8. Ireland 5 to 4, put on €4 to win 5.
